Presentation Title: Adding Practice Protection to the Oregon Behavior Analyst Licensure Law

 Abstract:

The large majority of behavior analyst licensure laws that have been adopted to date are both title and practice acts; that is, they specify that a state-issued license is required to use particular titles (typically, Licensed Behavior Analyst and Licensed Assistant Behavior Analyst) andto practice applied behavior analysis. That is consistent with the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts Model Behavior Analyst Licensure Act. At present the OR behavior analyst licensure law is a title act only. This presentation will provide rationale for amending the law to add practice protection. Suggested language for such an amendment will be presented along with suggested strategies for shepherding an amendment through the legislative process.
